ABOUT DAVID

An experienced, enthusiastic executive with program and fund development skills and a track record of success in non-profit, risk, and crisis management, David is a dynamic leader and problem solver motivated by challenges and opportunities to enhance society. 

David spent 25 years honing his expertise in leadership development, youth development, risk management, and love of camping, working at the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). He held positions for URJ Camps in Texas and Pennsylvania, as the Associate Director of Camping and Israel Programs, and as the inaugural director of URJ Camp Kalsman in Arlington, WA. David served as the health, safety, and security subject matter expert for URJ programs. Additionally, David managed the URJ's COVID-19 response and positioned the system's programs for a successful opening for the 2021 season.

After leaving the URJ and forming Berkman and Brown LLC, David has been helping clients locally and across the United States with their needs. His depth of experience, approachability, and calm in the storm have allowed him to successfully serve as an interim executive director, executive mentor, and incident commander at a moment's notice.

A Colorado native who grew up in Texas, David holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a master's degree in management from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business. A former firefighter and EMT, David spends most of his free time with his wife, two children, and Labrador Retriever, enjoying everything the Pacific Northwest offers.
